Time to call out the Mets fans; Greatest sign ever at a Phillies game

I knew this day would come from the moment I started this blog, and oh boy have I been looking forward to it. Now it's time to have some fun.

Recently a number of Mets fans have commented on some posts and emailed me their thoughts. Being the kind-hearted gentleman I am, I figured I'd let you sample two of them. Yes, they are rather long, but don't worry, each complaint is filled with completely intelligent remarks that are very pertinent:

1.) You think Frankie Rodriguez is a show-off punk? Well Brian Bruney, he has had a much better season than Mr. 6 blown save Brad Lidge. Shane Victorino is a show-off cheater. Maybe you recall last year when he was acting like a %&#@$^! idiot, clapping his hands on second base in front Jose Reyes's face. Later that inning, he stood on homeplate for an extremely ridiculous and that was an unsportsman like thing to do. By the way, if you remember, K-Rod is the single season saves leader, and the Angles 2002 WS hero. So, just remember, don't complain about the Mets when your team does the same things.

2.)
"K-Rod celebrates by looking to god and thanking him. If that's wrong than something is wrong with the Philthies fans! You can tell the teams that are just plain jealous that they don't have him!
If you hate the Mets, that is your choice, but Arrogance??!! Look at your Ryan Howard and tell me you don't see the arrogance everytime he hits a HR! Reyes is a spark for the Mets and there is no ego their as you may think. I live in Philthy and I still watch every Mets game. The most arrogant player the Mets ever had was Lenny Dykstra and he continued that with the Philthies. You have no clue anout the Mets and that is obvious, but living in Philthy I see the Philthies play alot and the only Class on the Philthies is Utley, Feliz, and Ibanez! The rest are Arrogant especially Howard and Rollins. And you are the same people who wanted Rollins gone because of it last year before you made it to the WS. So don't talk what you don't know. On my blog I try not to rip the players on other teams, but to talk intelligent baseball, but you are just in it to be a troll who stirs up trouble!"

Ouch, such hostility. At least I now have more of a reason to hate the Mets, who are allegedly a baseball team this year.

I will start with something that I want to address right away, and that is Mr. Cranky Mets Fan #2's finishing line, "On my blog I try not to rip the players on other teams, but to talk intelligent baseball, but you are just in it to be a troll who stirs up trouble!"

You sir are 10000% correct with that statement. If people want intelligent baseball all the time they can go check out ESPN, The MLB Network, Baseball Tonight, the Pro MLBlogs, the newspapers, magazines etc... But if they want a candid, unique look on things then they come to blogs like this one, there are more than enough blogs that supposedly talk intelligent baseball.

I mean, where besides a candid unique blog could you find such a great sign as this one?

Now, you seem  to have a problem with me thinking the Mets are arrogant. If you don't think Jose Reyes running around the bases with his finger pointed up in the air the entire time then proceeding to celebrate looking like hes having a siezure isn't arrogant, then you're either incredibly blind, or a Mets fan.

Reyes.jpgAnd if that wasn't arrogance, then why was there articles written about it in Sports Illustrated saying that it was too much and he needs to tone his celebrations down? He and Francisco Rodriguez have egos the size of Jupiter.

And you want proof that the Phillies aren't show-offs or arrogant? When Shane Victorino hit a grand slam off C.C. Sabathia in the playoffs last year he raised his hand while rounding 1st base a la Jose Reyes. After the game Ryan Howard put up the picture of Reyes doing the same on Victorino's locker to remind the team that they are classier than that. They police themselvs sir, there's no arrogance in that.

And to address your claim that Rollins is more arrogant. Please, watch this.

If you honestly expect me to be a die hard Phillies fan and not take shots at the Mets then sorry buddy you got a heck of a lot more coming to you. Actually I have a present for all Mets fans to see and enjoy. It's possibly the greatest sign ever brought to a Phillies game:

Now, if you had said that Phillies fans are arrogant, then I'd agree with you. Most fans of any baseball team are arrogant, and when you're team just won the World Series then you as a fan have a right to be. Sorry buddy, there will be no rally towels handed out at Citi Field this year, just crying towels.

crying shame.jpgI'm sensing a little hostility from Mets fans right now. Maybe its due to the fact they recently got swept out of Philadelphia, or maybe its because they are 3 games under .500 and in 4th place in the division and 8th place in the wild card. Ouch.

MetsSuck.jpg
***That is the single greatest sign ever brought to a Phillies game by the way.

And look, I'm not entirely stupid. I know the Mets have a ridiculous amount of their payroll on the DL right now. But boy is it fun to take my shots at them when I can. They didn't even wait until September to choke, instead they chose June.

And the fact these Mets fans think we Phillies fans are jealous of K-rod just tickles me. I do believe you are the jealous ones, and we all know what you are jealous of:

heymetsfans.jpgI think thats about it for my shenanigans for now. I'm sure the comments on this post will be just lovely especially from the Mets fans. Comment away though, it will be the topic of another post of mine I'm sure.

Oh, and one more thing, that giant glare you Mets fans see from New York, its just the sun shining off of these in Philadelphia:

Hard to argue with the truth, ain't it?!?!

This is the single greatest thing I have ever seen. You speak the truth though, and you speak it in a manner that is the farthest thing from obnoxious. Thank you for that. It feels good to read this and know that the true Phillies fans are sensible. I myself am a sensible Phillies fan.

That was well said, friend, well said.

Oh, oh, man... Haha.
Wow....
And i thought White Sox fans were bad!!!
Wow.... I'm seriously stunned. Humored, amused, but stunned.

I mean, i guess when your team is HORRIBLE, it's easy to get defensive. So i can see why they would be quick to lash out at you.

I think a lot of people find K-Rod extremely arrogant. Not just Philly fans, didn't one of the Yankees mention it? And K-Rod reacted oh-so-gracefully to that.....

Wow, harsh words for the Metropolitan fans. I don't mind, though, not ever being a huge Mets guy. I can remember hating them when the Cubs and Mets were in the same division. When they changed it all up, though, I kind of forgot about them.

I like the ring. Wish it said "Rays" though.

By the way, I think the Cubs have taken a swig of the beverage featured on the sign this season. Hopefully they can get it out of their system!

That sign that says "Choke, official soft drink of the Mets" is all over the place in different variations. Where I live, there are a bunch that say the official soft drink of the Yankees, since I live around Boston. It depends on where you are to see how it will be.
